The three measurements that make a chandelier look right
Designers size chandeliers with a simple formula: room length plus width in feet, converted to inches, approximates the right fixture diameter (a 12×14 room wants roughly a 26-inch fixture). Over a dining table, the fixture should span about half to two-thirds of the table's width and hang 30–36 inches above it.
In foyers, maintain 7 feet of clearance and, for two-story spaces, center the fixture at the second-floor sightline, not just the ceiling's. We bring these numbers (and the structural bracing for heavy pieces) to every hang, which is why our installs look intentional rather than merely attached.
